Non-government schools can apply for low-interest loans to upgrade their school infrastructure and build early years facilities. Over the next 5 years, up to $250 million will be available for loans of up to 15 years duration.
Upgrading school facilities will improve the education and care outcomes for students and will improve the longevity of existing infrastructure.
Priority will be given to contemporary facilities for science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education, and to facilities supporting early years covering birth to 5 years of age.
Each school will be considered based on its relative need and circumstances, with consideration given to its Socio Economic Status (SES) score.
First round applications open August 2016 and close on 31 October 2016. Schools will be notified shortly after.
From 2017, there will be at least 2 funding rounds each year. Further information on these dates will be made available.
The loan scheme will be administered by the South Australian Government Financing Authority (SAFA).
Visit the SAFA website for an application form and further information.
