Henley High School prioritises enrolments

Thursday, December 6, 2018

A capacity management plan has been introduced at Henley High School to assist with management of enrolment numbers and to ensure families living within the school zone have priority of access.

Priority consideration will be given to prospective year 8 students who live within the school zone. Prospective year 8 students who live outside the school zone and have a sibling already enrolled at the school may be considered if there are places available and the sibling did not enter through the specialist sports program.

The school’s specialist sports program will continue and be available to out of zone students, depending on in zone enrolment demand.

Enrolment applications for prospective students in years 9 to 12 living in the school zone will be considered if or when vacancies exist. These applications will be considered based on the enrolment register, siblings at the school, distance from the school and any other personal needs.

Children who identify as Aboriginal and are enrolled through the Enter for Success Program will be accepted. Enrolment applications for special consideration, including children under the guardianship of the Minister, will be considered by the Principal.

If places are not available at the time of enrolment application, prospective eligible students will be placed on the school’s enrolment register upon request, and referred for enrollment to other neighbouring schools.

Full details of the plan are set out in the Government Gazette.

Quotes attributable to Executive Director Infrastructure, Ross Treadwell

There is a lot of interest from families living outside of the school zone, and the specialist program offered at the school is especially popular amongst those families whose children would like to pursue a career in AFL.

We need to ensure families who live in the zone are prioritised for enrolment at the school.

Capital Works funding will increase the enrolment capacity of the school to cater to year 7s moving into high school from 2022 and accommodate additional enrolment demand due to local population growth.

This plan will ensure Henley High School can continue to operate in a safe and manageable environment in years to come.
