Paringa Park and Walkerville Schools prioritise enrolments

Monday, October 16, 2017

Formal capacity management plans have been introduced at Paringa Park and Walkerville Primary Schools to assist the management of enrolment numbers and give families living within the schools’ catchment areas priority access.

Priority consideration will be given to prospective reception students who are on an enrolment register, have been living inside the school zone for a longer period of time and have siblings currently enrolled at the school.

Enrolment applications for students in year 1 to 7 living within the school zone will only be considered if or when capacity exists, with priority consideration given to applicants already on the respective school’s enrolment register.

If no vacancies exist, the applicants will be placed on the enrolment register and referred for enrolment to neighbouring schools.

Background

Full details of the plan are set out in the Government Gazette.

Quotes attributable to Executive Director Infrastructure, Ross Treadwell

A number of students enrolled in Paringa Park and Walkerville Primary Schools are currently living out of zone, so we are supporting the schools to balance their enrolment numbers to ensure local families can access their local school.

We understand there is interest from families living outside the school zone, yet it is important that families residing in the area for the longest period of time have priority access to the schools closest to them.

This plan will ensure those with higher demand can continue to operate in a safe and manageable environment in years to come.
