2018 SA NAIDOC Award

10 July 2018

Department for Education employee, Chelsea Eldridge has been awarded the 2018 NAIDOC Aboriginal Trainee of the Year Award.

The accolade, which was announced on Monday, is part of the SA NAIDOC Awards.

The awards recognise the outstanding contributions that Indigenous Australians make to improve the lives of Indigenous people in their communities and beyond, to promote Indigenous issues in the wider community, or the excellence they’ve shown in their chosen field.

Chelsea joined the Department for Education, as a trainee within the Aboriginal Education Directorate, in April 2017.

Throughout 2017 and 2018, in the midst of providing administration services to staff, she supported programs and events such as the Aboriginal Power Cup, the SAASTA Shield, the Chief Executive Reconciliation Awards, the Dame Roma Mitchell Scholarship awards, Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week.

With her participation in these events and programs Chelsea has been able to show our Aboriginal Youth that they can achieve their goals.

During her time as a trainee she also successfully completed her TAFE components.

Chelsea has been offered a permanent position as an administration officer within the Aboriginal Education Directorate.
