COVID-19 update – Thebarton Senior College

2 August 2020

Update: 13 August 2020

SA Health has confirmed that Thebarton Senior College can reopen on Monday 17 August.

This is because by Monday all students and staff will have completed the quarantine or self-isolation period.

To make reopening the school run smoothly, each year level will start on a different day:

  • Year 12 students will return to school from Monday 17 August.
  • Year 11 students will return to school from Tuesday 18 August.
  • New Arrivals Program (NAP) students will return from Wednesday 19 August.

Update: 12 August 2020

Anyone who was physically present on the site of Thebarton Senior College, including students, employees and contractors on 29 July, 30 July or 31 July 2020 must either quarantine or self-isolate for 14 days from the date they were at the site.

At this stage attendance at the college on 6 August does not extend this period.

All close contacts have been contacted by SA Health and are quarantining in a medihotel in the CBD.  If a household member of a close contact works in an aged care, health care or disability care, they should have a COVID-19 test and self-isolate.

All casual contacts must self-isolate at home. SA Health have advised that if casual contacts are self-isolating in accordance with the guidelines, other people who live in the same house are not required to self-isolate, and can go to school and work. If the people living in the same house as someone self-isolating works in health care, aged care or disability care they should monitor themselves closely for any symptoms and have a COVID-19 test if they develop any symptoms (even extremely mild symptoms).

More details about self-isolating at home can be found on the SA Health website.

SA Health has confirmed that no other schools are affected.

If a staff member or student from another school attended Thebarton Senior College on 29, 30 or 31 July, and then returned to their own school, no further action is required by the school they returned to.

Only the staff member or student who physically attended Thebarton Senior College must self-isolate, unless SA Health has advised them directly of additional isolation requirements.

Update: 6 August 2020

SA Health has advised us to keep Thebarton Senior College closed tomorrow.

All students and staff should self-isolate immediately until Saturday 15 August.
