Year 7 move PD day

15 November 2019

Teachers from across the state have come together to learn more about the transition of Year 7 to high school, as South Australia prepares for the move in 2022.

80 teachers from 22 schools attended a professional development day at Wirreanda Secondary School yesterday, to learn from the school’s experience as one of three pilot schools making the Year 7 transition next year.

Teachers and leaders from Wirreanda Secondary School shared their learnings as a pilot school so far, focusing on modern approaches to quality teaching and learning, the school’s collaborative environment and its transition program which incorporates strong connections with local primary schools.

The Year 7 pilot has proven popular with families, attracting 90 enrolments at Wirreanda Secondary School next year, with a further 159 at Mitcham Girls High School and 105 at John Pirie Secondary School.
