The services provided by the C.a.F.E Enfield Children’s Centre will be relocated or suspended for at least the next two days after a small fire on Sunday afternoon damaged the building’s power board.
Long day care will be relocated at Enfield Primary School for the duration of the closure, while all other services will be unavailable until the facility reopens.
Appointments will be rescheduled as soon as possible.
Ros Maio, DECD’s Education Director for the Para Hills office, said the department is working with the C.a.F.E Enfield Children’s Centre Director to put contingency plans in place.
“We have contacted parents directly to inform them of the temporary closure and let them know about alternative arrangements for long day care and other services if they need them.
“Fortunately there was no structural damage to the building so as soon as we have restored power and ensured the facility is safe we will be able to reopen.
“We are really sorry for any inconvenience this has caused to parents and I’d like to reassure them that staff will work over the next few days to reschedule missed appointments.”
Work has begun to restore electricity to the site and fix damage to an external wall and air conditioning unit.
The fire was extinguished before any internal or roof damage occurred.
