This suite of lessons support short-term learning at home when face-to-face learning is interrupted due to COVID.

Students can start at lesson 1 and work their way through in order. Each lesson is either a video or a PowerPoint presentation.

Number properties – primes and composites

Mathematics lesson 1 (Series 1)

Learn how to identify the properties of prime and composite numbers and find factor pairs.

You'll need small squares of paper, bread tags, can ring pulls, buttons or something similar, pencil, paper and a ruler. You'll also need a hundreds chart – or you can draw your own.

Number properties

Mathematics lesson 2 (Series 1)

Learn about representing factors using arrays and making equivalent number sentences.

You'll need pencil, paper, a ruler, an eraser and your hundreds chart from the last lesson.

Prime numbers and common multiples

Mathematics lesson 3 (Series 1)

Learn how to prove if a number is prime or composite by finding factors and connecting the common multiples of an answer.

You'll need pencil and paper​, 12 by 12 grid with the numbers 1 to 144​, and coloured pencils.

Learn about how composite numbers are built up from prime factors.

You'll need paper and a pencil, and a 10-sided or interactive dice.
