This suite of lessons support short-term learning at home when face-to-face learning is interrupted due to COVID.

Students can start at lesson 1 and work their way through in order. Each lesson is either a video or a PowerPoint presentation.

Revisit important prior learning, including the 4 operations and key vocabulary.

You'll need a pen or pencil and paper, or access to a digital document you can easily use during the lesson, dice from a board game, or digital dice.

Working with vocabulary

Mathematics lesson 2 (Series 1)

Learn effective ways of building your maths knowledge around key vocabulary, working with the order of operations.

You'll need a pen or pencil and paper, or access to a digital document you can easily use during the presentation, and a calculator.

Directed numbers and number lines

Mathematics lesson 3 (Series 1)

Learn about the magnitude of negative numbers and begin to do computation with directed numbers.

You'll need a pen or pencil and paper, and a ruler to create number lines for the activities.

Solving directed number problems

Mathematics lesson 4 (Series 1)

Continue to develop efficient strategies to complete arithmetic processes such as addition and subtraction with positive and negative numbers.

You'll need a pen or pencil, paper, a ruler and a calculator.

Multiplication and division with directed numbers

Learn to develop efficient mental and written strategies to complete multiplication and division problems with directed numbers, focussing on the use of patterns.

Review fractions, decimals and percentages

Mathematics lesson 6 (Series 1)

Review fractions and decimals and recall that the decimal form of a rational number can be either terminating or recurring. Review adding and subtracting fractions.
