A chance to say thanks to our volunteers
National Volunteer Week provides the department with an opportunity to say a very special thank you to our caring, creative, diverse and generous volunteers. This year we will once again be celebrating and recognising our volunteers in a number of ways.
From Monday 20 May to Friday 24 May 2019, everyone is welcome to view the displays and be involved in the activities in our gallery in Flinders St.
This includes a:
- photo exhibition by children and students to show what volunteering means to them, Monday 20 to Friday 24 May
- sausage sizzle, 11.00am to 2.00pm, Tuesday 21 May
- free coffee morning, 9.00am to 11.30am, Friday 24 May.
We will also be walking in the annual National Volunteer Week parade, 10.30am to 12.30pm, Monday 20 May. Why not join us? Register now to attend
We also have a couple of special invitation-only events, including a volunteer morning tea and a wellbeing and resilience workshop.
The 2019 National Volunteer Week program is now available.
Many schools, preschools and children’s centres will also be hosting their own volunteer thank you events. Contact your local school, preschool or children’s centre to find out what they’re doing.
We’d love to hear how you make a difference as a volunteer, so get in contact and let us know.
Where to find us
The gallery is on the ground floor of the Education building at 31 Flinders Street, Adelaide.
About our volunteers
The department has more than 25,000 volunteers who give their time and talents to help children and young people learn and grow.
Our volunteers are parents, family, caregivers and people from the community. They bring their life skills, expertise, knowledge and diversity to our schools, preschools and children's centres.
