School upgrades for specialised education options

Upgrades to accommodate new specialised education facilities for students with disability will be delivered to a number of public high schools. These upgrades are being implemented to support the year 7 move to high school in 2022.

The majority of upgrades are part of a $10.3 million package to deliver additional places in specialised education options.

These specialised education options facilities will be tailored to the specific needs of each school, taking into consideration the best learning environment and safety of students and teachers.

The schools receiving upgrades were identified because they are projected to have the greatest need. A range of other factors were considered in the shortlisting process, such as schools with existing specialised education options, school culture, capacity requirements and student pathways.

These upgrades are in addition to the general major school upgrades currently underway at schools across the state.

Riverbanks College B-12 will also receive a special options class in addition to the 100 inclusive places for students with disability previously announced.
