From 2020 there will be a reduction in the size of the Adelaide High School and Adelaide Botanic High School shared zone to help sustainably manage enrolments into the future.
Demographic studies commissioned by the Department for Education shows significant growth in the number of high school aged children in the state.
Without a change to the existing zone, Adelaide High School and Adelaide Botanic High School will experience unsustainable enrolment pressure.
From 2020, several suburbs in the Adelaide Botanic High School and Adelaide High School shared zone will revert back to their pre 2019 zones. They include:
- Kurralta Park
- Mile End (west of South Road)
- Black Forest
- Clarence Park.

The zone change only applies to new enrolments for 2020 onwards. If your child already attends Adelaide High School or Adelaide Botanic High School they can continue to attend. The zone changes don't affect this.
Siblings of students enrolled in year 8 in 2019 will be considered for enrolment if they continue to live in the shared zone. This will continue up to 2023. You can find out more in the capacity management plan.
To understand how the schools would have grown beyond capacity see the CBD school zone projections (PDF 442KB).

The reduction in the Adelaide Botanic High School and Adelaide High School shared zone means the following school zones will increase in size from 2020:
- Underdale High School
- Plympton International College
- Springbank Secondary College.
