Relevant history screenings – school and governing councils

A relevant history screening, previously known as a criminal history check, is required for some of the department's volunteers.

The department’s volunteers include anyone working for free on a:

Parents or guardians who volunteer to work on these committees/councils do not require a screening unless the council/committee is the employing authority for an out of school hours care service.

Costs and how to apply

For council and committee members there is no cost, but you need to go through your site leader (principal or preschool director).

If you aren’t sure whether you need a screening, you can talk to your site leader, see about relevant history screening or use the department’s screening tool.
