Planning is underway at West Lakes Shore School R-7 for their upgrade.
Plans are being considered and reviewed in line with the transition of year 7 into high school by 2022.
Among the upgrades being considered for West Lakes Shore School R-7 are:
- Removing an aged building containing asbestos and constructing a new contemporary building in the heart of the school, linking several other buildings, the kitchen and Japanese gardens. The building will feature learning areas for language, art, drama, music and cooking with additional flexible learning areas and breakout spaces.
- Upgrading the existing open space units to create new contemporary areas, including installing movable walls for flexibility, installing air conditioning in the gymnasium and converting staff offices in the resource centre into teacher preparation spaces.
- Upgrading outdoor environments with a combination of landscaping, shade structure, seating and platforms for students to work and play on.
These plans are subject to further consideration and may change.
