WorldSkills competition for students enrolled in VET in schools

The WorldSkills Australia Vocational Education and Training in Schools (VETiS) competition is for secondary school students enrolled in an eligible vocational education and training (VET) course.

By entering, you can:

  • demonstrate your skills by competing in work simulation
  • build experience for your CV
  • connect with others in your chosen industry. 

Eligibility

To register, you must be enrolled in your first year of a VET course in secondary school (generally year 11).

Your VET course must be in the competition areas of either:

  • carpentry
  • commercial cookery.

How to register

Schools will invite eligible students to register in early term 3, 2022.

Registration is free.

Talk to your teachers for more information.

Competition dates

Competitions will start in mid-term 3, 2022.

The WorldSkills competitions are held every 2 years.

Winners will be invited to compete at the WorldSkills Australia National Championships in Melbourne in August 2023. 

Regional VET competitions

The VETiS for school students competition runs alongside the regional WorldSkills competitions, which aren’t restricted to secondary school students.
