A child-safe environment is a safe and friendly setting where children feel respected, valued and encouraged to reach their full potential.
Organisations that do not have access to Department for Education approved CSE trainers can access training for Child Safe Environments – our community response to child abuse and neglect through the CSE trainer public provider list. The trainers on the providers list have been trained by the department's CSE training team and offer 1 day and 3 hour refresher face to face CSE training. This training is accessed for a fee. Please refer to the CSE training public provider list (PDF 362KB) for further information.
Child Safe Environments – our community response to child abuse and neglect does not replace the requirement for those employed in the department’s schools and services, to complete RAN-EC training.
To become a CSE trainer, you will need to attend a 3 day train the trainer session at a cost of $340.
Participants are expected to have a minimum moderate level of confidence to deliver training to small-to-medium sized groups prior to the commencement of this training. Participants of this training should also be aware of the emotive nature of this topic and be confident in delivering such a topic in a supportive, yet professional approach. Attendance at all 3 days is required.
To register your interest, simply email educationfamiliescsetraining [at] sa.gov.au letting them know you would like to become a CSE trainer and they will either let you know if there is a space in the upcoming program or place you on a wait list for the next session.
Existing CSE trainers should contact the Child Safe Environment team to:
- access CSE training resources and participant hand outs
- maintain approved trainer status
- update personal details.
We are keen to protect the integrity and quality of the delivery of the child safe environments program. If you have any concerns regarding the quality of a trainer please do not hesitate to email or give us a call.
