Teaching opportunities in country South Australia

We currently have a diverse range of contract teaching positions available for 2022 in country South Australia. These positions are available in a variety of subject areas at preschools, primary schools and secondary schools.

Now is the perfect time to take 2 years to expand your teaching career in a country location. You’ll receive monetary incentives and access professional development, while exploring our great state.

What we’re offering

You will receive:

  • up to $20,000 over 2 years ($10,000 upfront each year) as a once-off ‘hard to fill’ payment, in addition to usual country incentives and locality allowances
  • a 2-year teaching contract at a country school or preschool
  • professional learning to support you to succeed in your new role.

Eligibility

These positions are open to any teacher who:

  • does not already have an ongoing or contract role with the South Australian Department for Education for 2022
  • will relocate from metro to country or from a country location to a different country location as a result of accepting the new contract
  • is relocating to a Zone 2-5 country area.

To be employed by the department in any role, you must be vaccinated against COVID-19. Proof of vaccination status must be provided for sighting on request.

If you meet the above criteria and have already accepted a role (prior to January 2022) or are in the process of finalising an offer for a country teaching contract (minimum 12 months) for 2022, you will be eligible for a separate once-off payment. You will be contacted directly if this applies to you.

How to apply

Applications close Friday 21 January 2022.

Step 1:

Complete the Employable Teacher Register and generate an ID number to use in step 2.  

Step 2:

Email your resume and a cover letter to Education.CountryRecruitment@sa.gov.au outlining:

  • the region(s) you’re interested in working in
  • your subject area experience
  • any professional learning you think you might need to be successful in a country teaching role
  • your employable teacher register ID number from step 1.

APY Lands

Key attractions

  • Visit national and conservation parks like the Nullarbor National Park, Wilderness Protection Area and Regional Reserve

Special requirements

You must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to enter the APY Lands.

To ensure employer compliance of duty of care responsibilities, given the unique environment of the APY Lands, a wellness check will be conducted for these positions and prior to any offer of employment.

Far North
