Teaching is a rewarding career with lasting impact

We aim to ensure South Australia’s public education system can unlock every child’s potential now and in the future.

Our preschools and schools are the heart of local communities.

They’re safe, inclusive, and collaborative – a place where every child and young person is encouraged to contribute, develops positive relationships, has a say in their learning, and where their needs, interests, languages and cultures are recognised and supported.

When our children and young people thrive so does South Australia.

The Australian Government is offering extra subsidised places in undergraduate teaching qualifications.

They’re also offering 5000 scholarships of up to $40,000 to new undergraduate and postgraduate students who commit to teaching after finishing their degrees.

Scholarships will be available over five rounds, with 1000 per year to be offered from 2024 to 2028.

Visit Commonwealth teaching scholarships to find out more.

Already have a degree in another field? We can help you change careers through our Teach for Australia program.

This program allows talented graduates in subject specialist fields to do their masters of education while teaching in regional classrooms.

"I encouraged her to take up swimming, and now she's a Paralympian."
Mrs Frogley, year 7-12 teacher, SA

Meet Mrs Frogley

Mrs Frogley is a public education teacher in South Australia.

Mrs Frogley taught a year 7 student named Izzy with sacral agenesis, which means she was slowly losing the use of her legs.

Izzy was looking for a pastime and Mrs Frogley suggested she try swimming. Soon, Izzy had joined the local swimming club.

Fast forward to now and Izzy's 17 years old and a paralympic swimmer.

She’s represented Australia at the Tokyo Olympics and the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, among other national and international meets.

One of Mrs Frogley’s most cherished possessions is a drawing and thank you note Izzy gave her for inspiring her to get into the sport..
