Develop your capability as a secondary school English specialist. Using contemporary research and applied learning, this program will help you to build a conceptual understanding of the English curriculum in years 7-9 and support you to plan and deliver high quality learning that improves English achievement.

I encourage other teachers and leaders to participate in the programs offered at Orbis because much of the learning is practical, it will help you to refine your practice and support students’ learning more effectively.

Applied learning

Throughout the program you’ll complete several applied learning activities that will support you to transfer your theoretical learning into practice. The primary applied learning task will be your project that you’ll discuss on the final day of the program. Throughout the program you’ll be supported by your facilitators and university coach to develop, implement and evaluate your project.

Expert coaching

You’ll be allocated a university coach to work with throughout the program, specifically to support your applied learning project. The university coaches will work with you to:

  • assist with forming and developing your applied learning project
  • monitor the progress of your project
  • provide advice on conducting and modifying (if necessary) your applied learning project in preparation for the final day of the program.
