Relevant history screenings for volunteers on governing councils

A relevant history screening, previously known as a criminal history check, is required for some of the department's volunteers.

The department’s volunteers includes anyone appointed to be on a governing council. Parents who volunteer to participate on these councils or committees do not require a screening unless the council or committee is the employing authority for an out of school hours care service.

Costs and how to apply

For council and committee members there is no cost, but you need to go through your site leader (principal or preschool director).

Questions about screenings

If you are not sure whether you need a screening, you can talk to your site leader, see about relevant history screening or use the department’s screening tool.
