Ongoing and temporary teaching positions for the 2027 school year are advertised from Thursday 30 July 2026.

Ongoing positions

Ongoing teaching positions for 2027 are advertised on Edujobs across 2 rounds:

Round 1: from Thursday 30 July (week 2, term 3), closing Thursday 13 August (week 4, term 3).
Round 2: from Thursday 17 September (week 9, term 3), closing Thursday 15 October (week 1, term 4).

Temporary positions

Temporary teaching positions for 2026 continue to be advertised on Edujobs throughout the school year as vacancies become available.

Temporary positions for 2027 are advertised on Edujobs from Thursday 30 July and will continue to be advertised throughout the school year.

Go to the position you'd like to apply for in Edujobs.

Click the ‘apply’ button and follow the prompts to submit your application. You'll need to attach your resume and application response.

Finding suitable positions

All our teaching positions are advertised on Edujobs, the department’s education jobs portal.

Visit teacher employment requirements and registration for information on employment eligibility and qualification requirements, including restrictions on some qualifications approved through the Teachers Registration Board of Western Australia (TRBWA). Be aware that some qualifications approved through the TRBWA do NOT meet the requirements for employment in teaching positions with the Department for Education.
To be eligible for employment as a teacher in the Department for Education you must hold a qualification that is deemed appropriate for registration with the SA TRB.
If this qualification was obtained following the establishment of nationally agreed ITE Accreditation Standards, then it must meet these nationally agreed standards (nationally accredited teaching degree) or be an appropriate early childhood teaching qualification.
Teachers who are registered in South Australia under mutual recognition from other jurisdictions, who do not meet these qualification requirements, will not be eligible for teaching employment.

If you are graduating soon, you are eligible to apply now for:

Provisional Teacher Registration
teaching positions.

Avoid the end-of-year rush and get ahead by submitting your application early. Provisional registration is essential for employment in schools and preschools, and applications must include certified documents and be submitted by post or in person.

Simply include an unofficial transcript for now and share your final transcript via eQuals once it is available.
