Sustainable Schools

Schools are supported through the Australian Sustainable Schools Alliance (AuSSA), which coordinates sustainability curriculum and programs from early years to beyond school.

The following resources are available for schools and preschools to develop a shared vision, values, understandings and practices to build a more sustainable community.

Sustainability is included in both the Australian Curriculum (sustainability is one of 3 cross-curriculum priorities) and the Early Years Learning Framework.

Green Adelaide (metropolitan)

As part of South Australia’s natural resources management reform in 2019, Green Adelaide was established and provides sustainability education in the metropolitan and greater Adelaide region to support children, adults and families to connect with and learn to care for the environment.

Green Adelaide’s Nature Education team can support schools with teaching tools and curriculum support materials aligned with the Australian Curriculum.

Non-metropolitan

Other Landscape Boards are assisted by the Nature Education team, and will provide non-metropolitan schools with support for sustainability and environmental learning. Contact your local Board from the Landscape South Australia website.
