Fee Free TAFE and vocational education

Fee Free TAFE and vocational education is making 12,500 training places available for students to train, retrain or upskill at no cost.

The joint initiative of the Australian and South Australian governments aims to make it more accessible and affordable for people to train, retrain and upskill in key industries.

Fee Free training will be available through TAFE SA and other vocational education and training (VET) providers in South Australia and will support industries facing skills shortages, growth industries and emerging sectors including:

  • care industries such as aged and disability care, health care and childcare
  • technology and digital
  • hospitality and tourism
  • construction
  • agriculture
  • defence and manufacturing
  • creative Industries
  • education.

Courses, including foundation skills courses, will be available to study in 2023, offering career pathways into high demand industries.

Focus will be given to priority learners including Aboriginal people, LGBTIQ+ community, veterans, young people, job seekers, unpaid carers, women in non-traditional fields of study, people with disability and people who are eligible for certain visa sub classes.
