The department has proudly been a White Ribbon Australia Accredited Workplace since 2016. We are committed to gender equality and the prevention of gendered violence.
Find out more about what this means for our staff, learners and young people.
Our role as a White Ribbon workplace
Everyone has the right to feel safe, valued and supported in the workplace.
We play an important role in creating change and preventing gendered violence.
Our aim is to create safe and respectful environments for everyone to learn and work. We aim to ensure our staff can access support services if they face any form of violence or abuse. We offer a safe space to seek help.
As a White Ribbon Workplace, we show our commitment by:
- investing in policies, training and programs
- connecting with community partners to address gender inequality
- supporting our staff who are impacted by violence or abuse
- providing support to our managers and leaders to help our staff in need.
Our schools and preschools
Our schools and preschools play a key part in prevention. This is done through intentional teaching and learning. We foster school cultures that model respect, inclusion, equality and safety for all.
As a department, we support our staff and students with a whole-school approach to Respectful Relationships Education.
We educate children and young people to:
- recognise the signs of violence
- understand healthy and respectful relationships
- know how to seek support
- promote gender equality through everyday learning and practice.
