About the strategy

Creating safe, supportive working and learning environments is foundational for environments where children, young people, staff and community can thrive.

This five-year strategy has consolidated Work Health and Safety into a dedicated department-wide strategy. It prioritises the safety and wellbeing of all staff, children and young people by ensuring WHS is embedded into every aspect of public education decision-making. The strategy will support staff and leaders to make informed, practical decisions based on local needs.

In developing this strategy, we have drawn on what we heard from the profession, deep analysis of our data and evidence, and the department’s broader strategic priorities.
