Inclusion enhances education for all children and young people by supporting their participation, engagement and learning.
Read our Direction Statement on Inclusive Public Education (PDF 140 KB) .
The statement outlines our ambition for inclusive education through 4 features:
- presence
- participation
- progress
- acceptance.
These build on our Strategy for Public Education and its focus on equity and excellence.
Inclusion matters
Children and young people learn best when they learn together.
Inclusion supports children and young people to participate, engage and learn – no matter who they are, where they’re from or what their learning needs are.
Inclusion makes schools, preschools and early childhood services friendlier places. It helps children and young people develop social skills, empathy, and understanding.
