Goolwa Secondary College logo revealed

5 July 2021

Presenting an authentic and enduring design, Goolwa Secondary College’s new logo is an expression of their vision and values.

Featuring a locally inspired natural palette of green, blue, orange, and grey, the interchangeable colours showcase Goolwa’s river and coastal environment.

The elbow of the Murray River, where the mainland and Hindmarsh Island meet, rushes through the middle of a shield and embraces a circle in its bend. The result is a logo with three separate elements representing different aspects of the school:

  • Shield — recognising Goolwa’s rich past and history, while looking to the future – embracing innovation and personal excellence for all.
  • Elbow—recognising the amazing opportunity the local river and coastal environment provides for learning and acknowledging our responsibility to place.
  • Circle – recognising the importance of community and creating a safe and exciting place to learn for all.

South Australian branding agency, Studio Band, collaborated with the Principal, Rebecca Moore, and key stakeholders to realise their vision and values and capture them in the logo design.

Work is now underway on designing the uniform.

The school will open with progressive enrolments, starting with year 7 and 8 students in term 1 2022.

Students, principals and staff in local primary schools, community members, and members of the local education community were a part of the branding process.

Goolwa Secondary College is 1 of 4 new South Australian government schools opening in 2022.
