Scholarships to encourage new teachers to move to country South Australia have been awarded to 38 university students in a new program to boost country schools and preschools.

A unique Aboriginal student-lead South Australian conference, the only of its kind in Australia, will inspire other young Aboriginal people to pursue careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).

New university graduates will be offered extra support and financial incentives to start their teaching career in country South Australia.

South Australia will need to deliver almost 100,000 vocational education and training (VET) qualifications over the next five years to meet the skills demand of the State’s industries.

National Student Volunteer Week runs from 7 to 13 August this year. It acknowledges and celebrates the thousands of students who are volunteering in their communities, while promoting volunteering to children and young people across Australia.
