Applications now open for Technical Colleges

5 May 2026

Students wanting to fast-track their careers and join the next generation of South Australia’s skilled workforce can now apply to enrol at one of the state’s nation-leading technical colleges.

Places are available for the 2027 intake in specialist programs at Findon, Modbury Heights, Tonsley, Port Augusta and the Limestone Coast.

Each college provides students in years 10, 11 and 12 with hands-on experience and job-ready skills, linking young people to employers in key industry sectors.

There are now more than 1,000 students enrolled in colleges across the state, creating a skills pipeline to meet defence, major infrastructure and housing needs.

To promote opportunities available, families are invited to attend open nights later this month at Findon, Tonsley and Modbury Heights – with more sessions being put on following an unprecedented response.

Students graduate from technical colleges with their South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) while completing VET qualifications in areas of growing demand.

The first group of students to graduate last year, at Findon, has produced strong outcomes, leading to either full-time employment, an apprenticeship or further study.

The number of apprentices and trainees in training has increased significantly in South Australia since 2021, with technical colleges playing an important role.

Work to deliver three additional technical colleges – in Murray Bridge, Gawler and Marden – is already underway.

With AUKUS and an ambitious housing agenda, expanding our technical college network is critical to building the local skills workforce required – and providing pathways to keep students engaged during their later school years.

Applications can be made online for metropolitan technical colleges during Term 2 and are set to be processed in Term 3.

Applications for regional technical colleges can be made through the student’s current school. All new students will start their programs at the start of Term 1 next year.
