Scholarships launch students a step closer to a future in STEM
More than 70 high school students have been awarded scholarships worth up to $10,000 to support learning in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) subjects.
The STEM scholarships program, which was created in 2017, aims to encourage under-represented students from South Australian public schools to pursue career opportunities in STEM.
Of the 70 scholarships for 2024 to 2025, 39 are girls and 12 of the students are from regional schools. Of the 16 Aboriginal learners, 8 are girls.
With the support of their school, eligible students submit a written application to demonstrate their commitment to studying and pursuing STEM subjects and career pathways.
Scholarship money can be used to cover the cost of tutors, laptops, textbooks, excursions or anything that directly supports the student to achieve in their chosen subjects.
