South Australian teachers notch up decades of service

21 July 2023

More than 70 South Australian public educators and support staff will be recognised for achieving 50 years of service in public education.

These dedicated employees are among 388 staff who will be recognised at an annual ceremony held at the Adelaide Convention Centre today, attended by the Department for Education’s Chief Executive Professor Martin Westwell.

Employees reaching 30, 40 and 50 year milestones will be acknowledged and celebrated for their service and commitment to thousands of South Australian children and young people.

Staff recognised at this year’s event have achieved more than 14,600 years of combined service to public education in the state.

Of the 227 government schools, preschools and sites whose staff are being recognised, Urrbrae Agricultural High School and Brighton Secondary School have 6 each, while Roma Mitchell Secondary College has 5.

“Our teachers and support staff deserve our utmost admiration and gratitude for the work they do every day; and the dedication these people have shown over multiple decades in education is exceptional,” said Professor Martin Westwell, Department for Education Chief Executive.

“Their remarkable dedication is testament to their unwavering commitment to nurturing lifelong learners and fostering a love of knowledge.”
