Woodville High School $10m facility upgrade delivers increased capacity

13 December 2023

Woodville High School has undergone a $10 million facility upgrade which includes the construction of two new purpose-built buildings ensuring the school can welcome more students in the future.

Woodville High School, located in Adelaide’s western suburbs, can now accommodate up to 1,486 students following the redevelopment.

Across the two new buildings constructed onsite, one will support horticulture and food technology along with a vocational education and training kitchen; while the other provides learning spaces for physical education, storage and teacher preparation spaces.

Several of the school’s established buildings were refurbished during the project, including science and art spaces with a new covered outdoor learning area provided outside the art classrooms.

Officially completed in February last year, the project also included minor upgrades to the school façade and signage, along with a refurbishment of the staff room.

“Established in 1915, Woodville High School has a long history in Adelaide’s western suburbs and this facility upgrade signifies a new era in education for our community”, said Woodville High School Anna Mirasgentis.

“In designing these contemporary learning spaces, it was important for us that the architectural elements such as building design, connectivity, lighting, circulation of air, furniture and landscaping worked in harmony with the pedagogical elements such as curriculum, collaboration, technology and student agency.

“Students in these fluid and flexible spaces are now empowered to make decisions about what they learn and how they learn.”
