School Sport SA state team official applications

Applications are now open for vacant interstate team official positions.

Position details

All teams are required to have at least 1 teacher involved and a gender balance.

Term of appointment is for the 2024 School Sport Australia championships.

Appointed officials will have the following costs covered by School Sport SA

  • airfares, accommodation and transport if travelling interstate.
  • uniform
  • daily living allowance.

Team officials appointed from department schools will be granted leave with pay to attend the championship and receive TRT replacement. Team officials from non-department schools need to make arrangements with the School Sport Team Leader for TRT replacement.

Non teachers appointed will not be reimbursed for wages.

Where there are no applicants or no suitable applicants for any of the interstate teams by the closing date then South Australia will not send a team to the championships.

Appointments

The following team official positions are vacant.

Australian football 15 years and under girls

Dates: 27 July to 3 August 2024

Venue: Gold Coast, Queensland

Teams consist of up to 25 boys and 25 girls

  • 1 girls coach
  • 1 girls assistant coach / team manager
  • 1 girls trainer / team manager

Hockey 15 years and under girls

Dates: 27 July to 3 August

Venue: Gold Coast, Queensland

Team consists of 16 girls

  • 1 girls coach

Swimming 12 years and under

Dates: 24 to 31 July 2024

Venue: Golf Coast, Queensland

Teams consist of approximately 40 swimmers

  • 1 female team manager

Touch football 12 years and under boys and girls

Dates: 20 to 25 October 2024

Venue: Cleveland, Queensland

Teams consist of up to 14 boys and 14 girls

  • 1 boys team manager
  • 1 girls coach
  • 1 girls team manager

Touch football 15 years and under boys and girls

Dates: 20 to 25 October 2024

Venue: Cleveland, Queensland

Teams consist of up to 14 boys and 14 girls

  • 1 boys coach
  • 1 boys team manager
  • 1 boys and girls tour manager

Role statements

Team officials will be required to work as a collaborative team. The role statements are a guide to the main duties, and these are to be negotiated between team officials.

Other considerations

  • Coaches will need to have a minimum level 1 or equivalent coaching qualifications.
  • All 12 years and under teams and some 13 years and older state team the preference is for the team members to travel and stay with their families. For those who cannot stay with their families, they will be accommodated with the team officials.
  • Some 13 years and older state teams stay together in group accommodation with team officials.
  • Appointed team officials will need to make themselves available for an induction/briefing Microsoft Teams with other team officials for their sport or team prior to trials or selections being held. This can be an online meeting.

  1. Application over sheet (DOCX 1 MB) fully completed including the endorsement of the applicant's current principal.
  2. A current CV with information specific to either coaching or managing no longer than 1 page.

Appointments will be made by a panel representing School Sport SA and will be subject to the School Sport Management Committe's approval.
