Retiring or resigning from the department

If you‘ve decided to retire or resign from the department, find out what you need to do.

We’re sorry to see you go and thank you for your service to our department.

When you can retire or resign

You can resign from the department at any time.

You can retire at any time, however your super pay-out may be affected.

Contact your super fund for more information, including at what age you can withdraw your retirement benefit.

How to retire or resign

You need to give notice in writing to the relevant leader before you retire or resign.

Find out the steps you need to take on EDi (our intranet) retirement and resignation (staff login required).

If you’re having trouble accessing the intranet, contact People and Culture to discuss the process.

Exit reports and interviews

You can have an exit interview or provide an employee exit report (DOCX 267 KB) if you want to. When complete, email to Education.HRConfidential@sa.gov.au.

Superannuation

We recommend contacting your super fund or a financial advisor to discuss your superannuation options, especially if you’re considering temporary relief teaching after retirement.
